The Challenge

The Like a Player Challenge, developed by Arena Hub and Sebra, is focused on resolving pain points in the sports and entertainment industry, with the aim of strengthening the segment and generating new business.

​

The Challenge will make training and mentorships available to qualified entrepreneurs, in accordance with their stage and needs in order to improve their performance in the event. Each startup will be accompanied by a mentor specialized in Startups who will guide the startup on their business model, how to validate their idea, how to decrease the uncertainty of the business and improve market performance. There will be workshops throughout the entire period of the program and the entrepreneurs will receive high-quality content to get hands-on practice with the methodologies that are currently used by the biggest startups in the world.

For this program there will be preference given to innovative startups with a high potential for growth, models that think about global scaling and that use technology solutions as the centerpoint of their business model.

 

We expect applications from startups made up of at least two partners, with one of them being 100% dedicated to the business. However, not meeting these criteria is not cause for exclusion.

All of the startups will be evaluated on the following factors:

• Market potential of the startup

• Level of innovation in the business model

• Quality of the team

 

The Like a Player Challenge is part of an initiative by Arena Hub and Sebrae Nacional and it is carried out by Arena Hub. The program also relies on strategic partnerships from various players in the national and local market seeking to develop an ecosystem that fosters the startups.

Target Audience

This program is targeted predominately at entrepreneurs who have a startup in the operation and scaling phase.

​

• Operation: Startups that have a ready solution but are still beginning initial tests, and are entering into contact with their first clients or are starting to generate revenue. 

• Scaling: Startups that already have a Market Fit Product and are in the growth phase.

 

Entrepreneurs from anywhere in Brazil can register if they are available to participate digitally for the entire process that will last around 02 weeks, between September and October 2020.

 

Main benefits

In addition to understanding the dynamics and methodology of launching innovative products, knowledge about the universe of startups, and experience sharing with local professionals and specialized mentors from around the country, qualified finalists will receive:

 

• Equity Free: we will not ask for any percentage of your company;

• Individual mentorship in modelling, validation, strategy, product, marketing, sales, finance, and management with startup specialists;

• Accompaniment for 02 weeks;

• Networking with Arena Hub Associates and Sports Organizations and the other program participants to facilitate the creation of partnerships and the startup’s validation process;

• Demo Day for potential investors, accelerators, and potential clients;

• Exclusive prizes according to ranking.

• 31/08/2020: Start of registration period;

• 03/10/2020: Close of registration period;

• 10/10/2020: Announcement of Pitch presentation times to selected candidates; 

• 13/10/2020: Start of Pitch and Business Model Mentorships; 

• 24/10/2020: End of Pitch and Business Model Mentorships; 

• 26 to 30/10/2020: Present Pitches to the jury;

• 30/10/2020: Announcement of the Finalists; 

• 4/11/2020: Final Event;

• 04/11/2020: Announcement of the Winner.

Throughout the entire process, the participants will receive information and communication with instructions about the next steps. These notifications will be sent to the email address of the startup representative listed on the registration form and via our social media. How to participate
To participate, the entrepreneur representing the startup must access the online registration form and carefully complete all information by 30/09/2019. Remember that you will be evaluated by what you write, so include as much information as possible.

​

All completed registrations will be received and evaluated by the program mentors. By completing the registration form, you will be pre-registered for the Like a Player Challenge. Completing the form is free; it is not necessary to pay anything at this stage.

​

After completing the form, the qualified startups will be invited to a second stage, where they will present a 7-minute pitch of their business to a jury panel. The panel will decide which startups will proceed to the final, based on the criteria adopted by the program.

 

For the Like a Player Challenge final, the qualified startups will be invited to a final stage where they will present a 10-minute pitch of their business to a jury panel that will decide the winner based on the criteria adopted by the program.
